The Allies created a force of almost 3 million different people including, the americans, the british, and the canadians and together they had tons of equipment and supplies. Eisenhower wanted to plan an attack on Normandy which is located in northern France. Operation Overload was suppose to be set for June 5, but due to bad weather it was set to June 6 and that's how the D-Day was made. June 6, 1944 was the first day for the invasion. So a little bit after midnight, three of the alllies came down form the sky by parachutes somewhere behind the German lines. At the Omaha Beach, a solider name Felix Branham wrote on the scene saying, "People were yelling, screaming, dying, running on the beach, equipment was flying everywhere, men where bleeding to death, crawling, lying everywhere, firing coming from all directions. We dropped down behind anything that was the size of a golf ball." The Allies wanted to end the war quickly because they wanted to bunch a large invasion of Mainland, Europe. For many months, the allies ha dto work to choose a location for Operation Overload. So the allies had to gather a huge number of troops, weapons, and other supplies for the invasion.
General Omar Bradley was choosen by Eisenhower to lead the american troops. The allies was introduced to two new German weapons, the V1 flying bomb and the V2 rocket. They were able to damage some of the rocket-launch sites, but they also feared the dangerous weapons that forced the allies onward. By early June of 1944, the allied forces of 3.5 million soliders were ready for action. At the end, Operation Overload had went to the courage of individual soliders who would make the landing. Some of those soliders were either wounded and some were dead who were comrades treying to find something to hide behind.
Every since 1941, the troops that were part of the USSR had suffered from tons of German attacks. In that same year, Stalin had wished to see the makings of an operation that ahd been carried out by the alllied force in western europe in order to increase the number of german divisions fighting in the soviet union territory. Somewhere on August 1942, a test landing had been organized at Dieppe which is located in northern france. On June 4, 1944 Eisenhower had given an order to let the allied fleet go to Normandy. According to Eisenhower the vote of the french resistance was essential to win the battle of Normandy.
